Long Gold Vintage Necklace with Chainmail Accents

I actually learned this type of chain mail fabrication in silversmithing, it’s called ‘idiots delight’. This piece is super long and can be doubled, creating two necklaces. A whopping 50 inches. The chain has a mock clasp, doesn’t open, but serves the purpose of where to place it on your neck. 
When you hold this piece in your hands, it’s soft, rounded and a little heavy. 
I can see this piece worn with a black tshirt, or even a sexy summer bikini. Fantastic plating circa 1985.
